A CHAPEL FOR LUKE

And his Scribe Lucius the Cyrene, 2022 © James Turrell, Photo by Florian Holzherr

Planning and implementation of the spatial construction for the installation of a Ganzfeld by the light artist James Turrell in the former house chapel of the boys’ monastery, now Diocesan Museum Freising.

A CHAPEL FOR LUKE and his scribe Lucius the Cyrene is a space-spanning light installation in the form of a Ganzfeld. All architectural features – light, color and space – merge into a unity, creating the phenomenon of the complete loss of depth perception. Upon entering the work, the boundaries of space and time seem to be dissolved and proverbial boundless experiences are created.”
